All pilgrims, including little children, schoolchildren, students, clerics, or laity will be welcomed by our sisters with joy and love.
During the excursion, you will learn about the monastery’s history, view its interior and architecture, visit the churches, hear about the saints to whom these churches are dedicated, and venerate the holy icons, relics and shrines. You will also visit the monastery’s iconography; tailor’s, carpenter’s, and jeweler’s workshops; the bakery; and dairy. In addition, you will take a walk through the monastery’s garden.
At the end of the excursion, you may submit the lists of people you want the monastery to pray for, buy candles, books, various church goods, and goods made at our monastery. At the monastery’s refectory, you will be treated to a fragrant herbal tea with the monastery’s pastries.
Nevertheless, the key feature of the Iveron Monastery is surely its overnight Liturgy. We recommend to attend it to anyone who wants to have a full picture of our convent.
Long stay period:
Most commonly, pilgrims come for a 2 or 3 day visit in order to get acquainted with our monastery, venerate the holy relics and icons, pray at the services, and confess and receive the Eucharist. Our monastery provides all pilgrims with meals and accommodation free of charge.
Some pilgrims wish to stay longer. The majority of our visitors do not desire monasticism. Though they may want to live a monastic life for some time, to experience it as a new world, or to get inspiration and support in challenging situations. Sometimes it happens that even if the situation does not change significantly, people acquire the grace of God, which helps them to overcome difficulties. People get their second wind and a feeling of pure happiness due to the fact that they could succeed through it all. The major help we render is spiritual. Основная помощь монастыря – духовная.
Sometimes women pilgrims wish to stay longer so that they could get used to the order of our monastery: observe the rules, take part in the obediences, and exercise the prayer rule. They want to change the atmosphere, prove themselves, and find out whether monasticism is their mission or not.
All pilgrims are dear guests to us. However, the majority of them voluntarily wish to help the monastery by their work, even if they come for a short period of time. They observe the obediences along with the sisters, cleaning the territory or the rooms of the convent, at the orchards or garden, or at the refectory, etc. It is an ancient tradition to help holy monasteries by your work and thus, repent, pray for something, and glorify God.
At our shop, you may submit the lists of people you want the monastery to pray for. The people listed (living and deceased) should be Orthodox.
Remembrance of people in prayer is carried on during the Divine Liturgy (at proskomedia) or during the reading of the Psalter (several times a day).
You will find candles, Orthodox books, icons, crosses, icon pendants, chains, prayer ropes, blessed oil, and various church goods at our shop.
Many inhabitants of Orsk and the guests of the city have liked our unleavened bread and the monastery’s pastries: various buns, pies, rolls, croutons, and so on. Many people like Suluguni cheese with different fillings, honey butters (with flax seeds, sesame, etc.), whey and fermented milk drink Matsoni, which is a real health and life energy serum.
