THE IVERON MONASTERY OF ORSK
Many consider it a miracle of God – the appearance in the steppes of the Orenburg Region, on the outskirts of the City of Orsk, of the Iveron Monastery. As if from heaven, a monastic cloister suddenly descended to earth.
Imagine: on May 6, 2013, Bishop Irenaeus of Orsk and Gai consecrated the first stone in the foundation of the convent. A year later, on a former wasteland with an area of about a hectare, a huge building was spread, and on August 1, 2014, the first Liturgy was held in one of the churches dedicated to St. Mary of Egypt.
By this time, the Bishop had made several monastic tonsures, and soon a full-blooded monastic life began within the walls of the monastery under the guidance of the confessor of the previously formed community, Archpriest Sergiy Baranov.
